CCSD Scholarships
The Cornell Club of San Diego is proud to offer two local scholarships to Cornell students from the San Diego area. The availability of these scholarships is due to the interest and generosity of individual alumni donors.

Willie James Jones, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
The scholarship is named in the memory of Lincoln High School valedictorian and outstanding citizen Willie Jones, Jr. Willie was expected to graduate with Cornell's Class of 1998, but was tragically killed only days before he was to matriculate at Cornell. Willie was an extraordinary individual. He thrived both academically and athletically and was viewed as a role model by peers and leaders in the San Diego community.
The Cornell Club awards this scholarship to a Cornell freshman from San Diego who demonstrates financial need and excellent academic and leadership potential.
In 2007 the Cornell Club board initiated a 2-year campaign to endow, in perpituity, a $50,000 scholarship in the memory of Willie James Jones, Jr. This guarantees that every year an incoming Cornell freshman from San Diego will fulfill his or her dream to attend Cornell - a dream that was sadly taken away from Willie.
Your contribution can help make it possible for an incoming San Diego freshman to attend Cornell and keep Willie's memory alive.

Cornell Club of San Diego Tradition Fellowship
The CCSD has a 18 year tradition of providing needed financial assistance to San Diegans attending Cornell. The CCSD Tradition Fellowship was endowed in 1990 in the amount of $25,000 through an extensive fund raising campaign by CCSD alumni and Board members. The funds are managed by the Cornell Investment staff in Ithaca and the selection of our local recipient is made by Cornell's Student Aid Development and Scholarship officials in Ithaca.
